2024 FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy

The 2024 FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy (FVLA) will be held online from the FISU Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The aim of the FVLA is to create an international platform to promote university sports values and to train FISU Student Ambassadors in the implementation of international, national, and local projects and activities.

The FVLA educational program traditionally includes:

• an introduction to FISU: its history, structure, sport and educational events, and other activities;

• the development of FISU Student Ambassadors program;

• the planning of celebrations for International Day of University Sport (IDUS) 2024;

• studies and workshops on media and communications;

• workshops on volunteer management at sport events;

• sport and cultural events (e.g. “Try the sport”);

• lectures from representatives of the largest international organizations responsible for hosting major sport and cultural events.

Canadian Delegation

U SPORTS will select up to two (2) student representatives (1 female and 1 male) to take part in the 2024 FVLA.

Selection Criteria

In order to be considered as a student representative, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a Canadian citizen or be enrolled in a Canadian University/College;

• Be a student at University (or equivalent) aged between 18 and 25 by December 31, 2024 (must be born between January 1, 1999 and December 31, 2006);

• English proficiency level (at least intermediate level);

• Be involved in university sports and/or social life as well as the community;

• Be informed on the history and vision of FISU and its events on national and international levels;

• Be ready to develop an action plan and implement a project that will help the promotion of university sport values;

• Be ready to take part in the full FISU Student Ambassadors programme from September 2024 to September 2025.

Nominations must be submitted by sending the following documents no later than May 20, 2024 via email to aroy@usports.ca:

a. How sport can catalyze promoting a wholesome and active lifestyle?

b. How has your engagement with the community helped unify and create a stronger community?

c. How can you utilize your platform(s) to effectively create awareness?
