Meet your 2019-20 Top 8 Academic All-Canadians: Isabel Sarty
UPEI reached a new milestone after 87 of its student-athletes were named U SPORTS Academic All-Canadians during the 2019-20 season.
The 87 student-athletes represents the highest number of total athletes that have been recognized in a single year. That's more than 43 per cent of the student-athlete population, and one of the top rates of Academic All-Canadians at universities across the country. It also marks a 5.5 per cent increase from 2018-19 when 67 out of 171 (or 38 per cent) athletes were honoured.
Out of the 56 universities comprising U SPORTS, the 43.5 per cent mark ranks 11th overall.
"As a UPEI Panther alumna, I understand the tremendous challenge it is to balance academics with athletics," said Jane Vessey, UPEI's director of Athletics and Recreation. "I congratulate all those who have received this recognition and all those who are striving toward it."
