Championships Men’s Final 8

The Carleton Ravens moved to No. 1 in the U SPORTS men’s basketball Top 10 after wins against Ottawa and Lakehead. Carleton (18-4) is spending its seventh time this season atop the table. The UBC Thunderbirds (13-7, 2-0) had the biggest move of the week, as they jumped two spots from last week to No. 6, thanks to a pair of wins in the Canada West playoffs.

The formerly top-ranked Victoria Vikes (17-3, 1-0) slid down to No. 2, while Ottawa (17-5), Alberta (15-5, 0-1) and STFX (17-3) each remain at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Rounding out the rankings is No. 7 Manitoba (18-2, 1-0), No. 8 Brock (16-6), No. 9 Queen’s (17-5) and No. 10 Windsor (16-6).

Playoffs are underway in three conferences this week, highlighted by Friday’s Canada West semifinal in Victoria between the No. 2-ranked Vikes and the No. 6-ranked Thunderbirds. OUA playoffs get underway on Wednesday, with No. 9 Queen’s hosting Western in a first-round matchup, while Carleton, Ottawa, Brock and Windsor all earned byes to Saturday’s quarterfinals. No. 5 STFX starts its postseason on Saturday at the AUS tournament, facing either UNB or Cape Breton.
