The Western Mustangs (8-0, 1-0) playoff journey got off to a winning start Saturday afternoon against the Laurier Golden Hawks (5-3, 1-1) at Western Alumni Stadium, with a commanding second half leading the Mustangs to a 45-9 victory as they remain the top team in U SPORTS football, earning their seventh straight appearance to Yates Cup on November 12.

Quarterback Evan Hillock was 12 for 19 with 139 yards and one interception while running back Keon Edwards continued his 100-yard streak going 138 yards on 24 carries with two touchdowns. On the receiving end, Savaughn Magnaye-Jones had seven receptions for 93 yards.
 
In RSEQ action, the Montreal Carabins (6-2, 1-0) soared from No. 7 to No. 5 after defeating the Sherbrooke Vert & Or 23-15 in the semi-final match on Saturday. The Carabins will be looking to win a third straight Dunsmore Cup on November 12.
