U SPORTS and BlackNorth Initiative announce Call for Applications for Athletes on Track Bursary Program
U SPORTS and Canada West announced Tuesday that the UBC Thunderbirds women’s field hockey team will forfeit its first two games of the 2022 season due to the participation of an ineligible student-athlete in games against the Calgary Dinos on Sept. 9 and 10.
UBC self-disclosed upon becoming aware of the eligibility violation.
An automatic forfeiture by a score of 3-0 has been imposed, with U SPORTS reserving the possibility of adding additional sanctions once the disciplinary process has concluded.
