Emma Wedgewood, York

Emma Wedgewood of York had an outstanding performance in last week's OUA quarterfinal series against top-seeded Nipissing. In Game 1 against the Lakers last Wednesday, she stopped all 44 of the shots thrown her way, which led to a 1-0 (OT) win for York. In Friday’s Game 2 Wedgewood stopped 34 of the 35 shots on net leading the Lions to a 6-1 win. Wedgewood posted a 0.987 save percentage week as she led the Lions to the upset.

The Lions take on the Waterloo Warriors for the OUA semifinal this week. Game 1 is Wednesday in Waterloo, with Game 2 set for Saturday at York, and Game 3 (if necessary) on Sunday back in Waterloo.

Sam Huo, UBC

Sam Huo of UBC is this week's USPORTS men's hockey player of the week. Huo played an outstanding series in the Thunderbirds’ Canada West semifinal battle against the Alberta Golden Bears. On Friday, Huo scored UBC’s only goal in a 4-1 loss. On Saturday, needing a win, Huo grabbed a hat trick, leading the T-Birds to a 4-2 win and forcing Game 3. On Sunday, Huo assisted on the game-winner as UBC shut out Alberta 4-0 to take the series and clinch a spot in the University Cup.
