Championships Women’s Rugby

KINGSTON, ONT. (U SPORTS) – Faith Tilley, Taylor Briley, and Soleil Brookes all scored during the Victoria Vikes’ 21-10 victory over the Guelph Gryphons on Wednesday in their quarterfinal game at the 2021 U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship at Nixon Field.

Guelph opened the first-half scoring with Hannah Beaumont streaking down the left wing, but Victoria answered back with a try from Faith Tilley in the 12th minute.

Taylor Briley would dot down in the 32nd minute to put the Vikes up 14-5 at halftime.

After the break, a reenergized Guelph side would get gain some traction, with Beaumont’s second try of the day coming in the 23rd minute of the second half.

The Vikes would shut the door on any Gryphon momentum with Soliei Brookes scoring the final and decisive try in the 31st minute of the second half.

Alexie Pusch made a pair of conversions while teammate Brooke Bazion made her attempt in a winning effort for the Vikes

With this win, Victoria advances to the U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship semifinals on Friday, while Guelph will play in the consolation semifinal on Friday.
