The U SPORTS Female Apprenticeship Coach Program was launched to help to increase the number of females in coaching positions across Canadian universities, by matching apprentice coaches who have recently graduated, with a mentor coach in one of the 11 U SPORTS-sanctioned sport offerings for women.
Elizabeth (Becky) Leblanc was announced as one of the inaugural participants of this program back in August 2020: Participants announced for inaugural U SPORTS Female Apprenticeship Coach Program — U SPORTS. She was awarded the position of Female Apprentice Coach with the Western Mustangs Women's Basketball Team for 2020-21.
Becky, who had previously been on Western's Women's Basketball Team as a player, was thrilled to take on this new opportunity as a female coach.
