The Alberta Golden Bears remain on top of the U SPORTS Men’s Hockey Top 10, but only by a hair’s breadth over the defending champion UQTR Patriotes. In the combined rating of media votes and Elo ranking, Alberta earned 287 points out of a possible 300, while UQTR was just behind at 285.

UQTR (2-0-0) moved closer to Alberta (5-0-1) on the strength of their two-game sweep of the then-No. 8 Queen’s Gaels, picking up 6-5 and 4-1 wins over the weekend. Alberta, for its part, cruised to a pair of home wins over the Trinity Western Spartans, notching 4-1 and 7-1 victories.

It was a good week to be a Huskie, as the Saskatchewan (5-1-0) variety used a sweep of UBC to move up three places into the No. 3 ranking. Meanwhile, their namesakes from Saint Mary’s (3-0-0) pulled off the move of the week, jumping from outside the ranking into the No. 4 spot this week. SMU picked up an impressive pair of home wins last week as they shut out then-No. 3 UNB 3-0 on Saturday and followed that up with a 5-4 win over Moncton, who came in ranked ninth, on Sunday.

The No. 5 StFX X-Men (2-1-0) dropped one spot after a split last weekend, while the No. 6 UNB Reds (1-2-0) fell three places after a loss at Saint Mary’s.

Toronto Metropolitan and Brock opened their OUA seasons with two wins and were rewarded for their efforts. TMU went up three spots, from No. 10 to No. 7, while Brock entered the ranking at No. 8.

Rounding out this week’s Top 10 are the No. 9 Mount Royal Cougars (3-2-1), who fell two places after a split with Calgary, and the No. 10 UBC Thunderbirds (3-2-1), who were swept at Saskatchewan.
