Women’s Volleyball
The Montreal Carabins are the new No.1 women’s volleyball team in the nation as all eyes turn towards the playoffs.
The Carabins (18-2) jumped back into top spot after wrapping up the regular season with 3-1 and 3-0 victories over Sherbrooke and Ottawa. Montreal will have home court advantage this weekend in a best-of-three RSEQ semifinal against UQAM.
On the track, the Guelph Gryphons women have also reclaimed top spot in the rankings after dropping to No. 2 last week following last chance events at home and at the Hal Brown meet hosted by the Toronto Varsity Blues. The Gryphons head to Windsor this weekend for the OUA Championships.
In other U SPORTS rankings, Carleton (men’s and women’s basketball), UNB (men’s hockey) Manitoba (women’s Hockey), Trinity Western (men’s volleyball), and Guelph (men’s track and field), all remain national leaders for another week.
Notes: The final rankings of the season for men’s and women’s basketball and track and field will be published next Tuesday, Feb. 27.
The U SPORTS #CHAMPSZN gets underway this week with swimming at the University of Toronto (Feb. 22-24) and wrestling at Algoma University (Feb. 23-24) in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
