Melodie Daoust, a McGill graduate from Valleyfield, Que., was named Tournament MVP as Canada rallied for a 3-2 victory over the United States to win the IIHF world hockey championship in Calgary, Tuesday.
Daoust, who graduated from McGill in 2017 with a degree in physical education, was the only U SPORTS player on the roster. The Team Canada coaching staff also featured two U SPORTS coaches with bench boss Troy Ryan (Dalhousie) and Kori Cheverie (Ryerson), in addition to equipment manager Alana Goulden (Ryerson).
A four-time All-Canadian, Daoust was a national finalist for the U SPORTS Female Athlete of the Year in 2016.
